SpeciesRhododendron caespitosum
LocalityPapua, Indonesia
DescriptionWithout flowers, the leaves of this plant are so tiny that at a casual glance you could almost be forgiven for thinking it was some kind of moss. However, the beautiful pink blossoms reveal that this is in fact the world's smallest rhododendron. It is endemic to just a few alpine valleys high in the mountains of central New Guinea, where it grows entirely on the vertical trunks of tree ferns.
